Malaysia Won?

Image
Please do ignore the teeny weeny hint of skepticism in the title. xD I was never a fan of football.  But since this year's World Cup, I've become a reformed football-hater :) After the World Cup fever died down though, there were no more matches that I could get excited about. I mean, for a person without Astro, I was certainly left with few (to zip) options. There weren't many games aired on terrestrial TV was there? >.< Anyhow, I was just on FB, and the Facebook-sphere is abuzz again, this time, with the news that our very own Malaysian football team has just won the AFF-Suzuki Cup in the match against Indonesia with a score of 2-1; the win secured by Muhammad Ridwan's goal in the breath-catching 87th minute ! (I didn't watch the game. This is what I had gathered from an in-depth scrutiny of all the FB statuses of friends ! haha :P) You know what I noticed? Suddenly everyone's  proud to be a Malaysian. Funny, since n...

Thank You, Germany

Germany, I want to thank you. Why? Ah, what modesty. Because of you, I experienced the adrenaline rush that comes from watching an exciting, intense match. Because of you, I had the privilege to witness awesome teamwork, awesome skills. Because of you, I learned to yell and curse at opposing teams (and even referees) who fouled you. Because of you, I gave my neighbours reason to curse me as well, when I cheered and screamed in high decibels for all the goals you scored (which are plenty). Because of you, I learned to scold gently, "Klose, you shouldn't have shoved him like that. Play nice, or you'll get yourself a yellow card." Because of you, I know what it's like to cheer like hell for a team, and be rewarded :) Because of you, I now can appreciate one's talents and skills more than one's looks. Because of you, I can  still  appreciate a man with talents and skills,  and  good looks. :) Because of you, I lea...

Awesome Everything :)

Germany played a splendid game. Arne Friedrich Scored Germany's third goal against Argentina ! I mean, scoring within the first THREE minutes on the field? Talk about working up a frenzy for fans ! :D Thomas Muller, 20 yo His first debut in the World Cup ! I can't find more flattering pictures of him. But I bet you, after this WC, he'll be a superstar ! First goal for Germany They totally did not disappoint. After scoring their first goal, perfect defense all the way. Bastian Schweinsteiger He was practically ALL OVER the field ! Left, right, centre ! Second half started off rather weak though. Argentina was on heavy attack mode. Play was mainly on the Germans' side of the field. Goalkeeper performance was top form ! Good saves the whole time. Awesome defense once again by the Germans. Gonzales Higuain of opponent Argentina A definite cutie, but I had literally no time to drool this time. Germany was too awesome ! Argentinians frantic for an equalizer that had...

Goodbye Brazil

Image
Goodbye, Brazil. Goodbye, Ricardo Kaka. *sigh* (I actually know his full name now. Now doesn't that scream " Reformed-Football-Hater !"? XD) You guys played a good game. You guys lost not for lack of skill, or lack of trying. Maybe a little too over-confident. But, it's over now. Oh well, I hate to admit this (due to a certain friend being a supporter), but. Germany's actually a really good team. (I have to concede after they thrashed England's Royal Bum at the qualifying rounds 4-1, albeit unfairly. =.=) Hope they win tonight. :D

World Cup Experience

Image
I am not a football fan. Never was. I never did get what all the fuss was about, 11 men streaking across a field, fighting for possession of a rather small, insignificant ball. I never did get all the loud, crazy shouting and the cheering (and the swearing) that more often than not, disturbed my beauty sleep. (Even if I were not asleep by that time, it annoyed me all the same >. I would declare: "I don't like football." And my brother would challenge me: "Have you even watched football?" *pause* Then he'd tell me: "How can you say you hate something you don't know anything about?" He was right. I knew zilch about football, yet I claim to hate it. Why? And so I made a new resolution. With the World Cup this year (and during my 2 months holiday at that), I thought I would make an effort to, well, get it . I followed the qualifying rounds, watched as many matches as I could (which is a limited precious few since I don't have Astro and I h...
